About PTSCO

PTSCO stands for Parent, Teacher, Student, Community Organization.

PTSCO is the link between CHS families, the CHS administration and the larger Buffalo Public School District. Home school and district wide issues are addressed at our meetings. Information is also disseminated through our monthly newsletter, the View from the Hill, which is e-mailed to all CHS families and distributed at school.

We endeavor to support the CHS community in many ways. We publish a student directory for participating families. We host at least one annual meeting for each grade level, usually held before or after a general meeting. We sponsor informational programs, such as the Junior Class College Night and the College Financial Aid Night for Seniors. In addition, PTSCO puts on or partners with the school in putting on many social events that bring the CHS community together. The Welcome Back Picnic in September is one example - as many as 900 people have enjoyed BBQ chicken and each other’s company on the CHS lawn for the past several years. PTSCO also helps put on many of the rites of passage for CHS students —the 5th & 6th Grade Ice Cream Social and Haunted Lockers, the dance party on 8th Grade Moving-Up Day, the Junior and Senior After-Prom Party, and the Senior Breakfast, to name a few. Staff appreciation breakfasts are held before the first day of school, during the winter holidays, and in May. PTSCO also helps fund CHS clubs, sports teams, academic competitions, and special projects. It pays some field trip expenses in an effort to bring the costs down so that every student can participate. Funding applications forms are available under the PTSCO Contacts & Docs on the left hand side navigation bar of this page.

PTSCO raises money two ways—through a membership drive and an annual auction event. Also, individual classes engage in long-term fund-raising activities to support special 8th and 12th grade events.
