Center for Computational Research Summer Workshop

Originally published: 2/29/2008

June 30 - July 11, 2008

The Center for Computational Research, UB's supercomputing center, will sponsor an intensive two-week summer workshop in computational science for local high-school students. This year's program will focus on computational biology and bioinformatics. Participating students should have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year, should have taken a course in Biology, and some Chemistry would be helpful. Students should know some computing, but do not need extensive programming backgrounds. The workshop will provide students with experience in computational bioscience on state-of-the-art computing and visualization hardware.

Interested students should forward the following information to the Center at the address below:

  • High school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from a science teacher
  • Brief summary of science background (biology, chemistry, physics, etc)
  • Brief summary of experience with computing (programming courses, languages, etc)
Please indicate also any computer and programming experience that you have, and report SAT or PSAT scores if available.

Application materials are due April 25, 2008.
