International Baccalaureate program description

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as an independent, not-for-profit education foundation. Its original purpose was to facilitate the mobility of students internationally by providing schools with an upper secondary school diploma recognized by universities around the world. Since then, its mission has expanded, and it now provides an internationally recognized education available to students of all ages.

Since 1991, City Honors has offered the IB Diploma Program (DP) to students in Grades 11 and 12 and is one of 681 IB schools in North America and 574 in the United States. Our largest class ever, 53 seniors, will finish their requirements and take their final examinations in May 2008. There are also 47 juniors who have begun their IB course work in anticipation of the Diploma in 2009.

For more details on the IB Diploma Program, go to: http://www.ibo.org/diploma/

We are currently planning and implementing the Middle Years Program (MYP) for students in Grades 5-10 in order to provide our students with an international framework of academic challenge and life skills appropriate to this stage of adolescence.
